Cabela's Outdoor Adventures PS2 negative numbers?

This started happening after I shot the trophy legend rocky mountain mule buck. Shopping > Your Gear: the weight is in the negative even though I have nothing equipped. When I do equip things and finish a hunt or mission, my strength is lowered into the negatives. Why is this happening and how can I get everything back to normal? Please help!
