Why do I feel so crappy about being alone on new years eve?

My boyfriend is working and I don't have any friends that I'm close enough with to go out with. I even begged a co worker and she just wanted to stay in. It's the first new years I have ever been in this situation and it really sucks. Any advice on how to make the night bearable?
