Strange mole on my back? How to remove?

I have a lot of moles, but this one is very different. It sort of hangs off of my back and is kind of mushy. It has grown since I was a little kid and it feels like I could just pull it off, but I know better than to do that. I don't have insurance and I am afraid it could lead to skin cancer. Are there any safe ways to do this at home or does anyone know how much it would cost to go to the doctor and get it froze or surgically removed?
