Is is possible to use nuclear fission to make nuclear fusion?

My teacher give me a project that is to build a hotel on Antarctica, don't ask me why the hell they want to do that..but my job is to find a way to supply their's energy needs..and i choose nuclear fusion (because it's in the future) i just want to ask that..is it possible using "nuclear fission TO MAKE nuclear fusion" like they did with hydrogen bomb?
