Gifted or immersion...which school program should we have our 1st grader attend?

our son who is currently in kindergarten was accepted into the immersion program starting with this year. so, he has been learning spanish this year in kindergarten. it is an excellent program. they immerse the kids in the language, only teaching in spanish. it's amazing how they pick it up so quickly at that age. well, they've also tested the students for being gifted, and he has been chosen to be in that program starting next year. we can't have both at this time, though. we have to pick one. they retest the students in 5th grade for the gifted program, so we were thinking of leaving him where he's at until then. uming he'd retest into it at that time, he could be in both programs once in middle school. but, he'd be missing the gifted program until then if we chose that. and, what if he didn't test into it at that time? so, i need advice. learning spanish would be a great benefit, but of course, being in gifted cles would be also. what would you all do? sorry for the lengthy details. this is a difficult decision to make when he's still so young. although, we're also very blessed to have to be making it. thanks for all of your advice in advance!
