Sound still coming out of speaker when headphones are plugged in?

I just bought a new mach speed trio-v430 4gb mp4/mp3 player off of amazon.com when I plug in the headphones to hear sound the sound still comes out the speaker.. I don't know whats wrong with it, and theres no way to fix it in the option menu.. Someone please help!
