One year old still on stage one jars HELP!?

My one year old had tonsillitis about 4 months ago and while his throat was sore we went back onto purees from the stage2 mashed foods but now I can't get him back off them again. His throat looks fine and he will eat rice cakes, crisps, pieces of cheese etc so swallowing is not the problem but if I give him anything with lumps in he either throws up or spits the lumps out and then refuses to eat anymore. I have tried giving him grown up food but most of that never touches his lips and ends up Straight on the floor. He wont even try any type of bread or meat as a finger food but if it comes on a spoon and isn't lumpy then he can't get enough. I have tried not offering him puree if he doesn't eat what I give him to see if he is holding out for the jar but that doesn't seem to have any effect either. He is having 2 7oz bottles a day and very little else at the moment please help me!!!
